When I first had an alert on my phone about this, I thought it was some hacker playing a really bad joke on people. My work place was closed in Norway, ME but i still didn't think it was that serious until i read more news stories on this. I was so saddened by the people who lost their lives and then later learned of the shooter asking for help and finding out he had a TBI. It's sad that this had to happen in order to finally get some serious help for people who have Mental Health issues to the point where they cannot, clearly, control themselves !!!

A few years before the shooting, he showed up at our doorstep. He was looking for his lost dog, and my father told him we haven’t seen it. He told my dad to call him sir or sergeant, which was weird but my dad complied because he said the dude seemed off and just not right in the head. He then started yelling out of nowhere, accusing my dad of stealing his dog. My dad told him to get off our property, and he stormed off and we never saw him again. Turns out, we live around 10 minutes away from his house. I remember seeing armored vehicles and choppers above my house for what felt like forever when they were looking for him, and my entire family boarded ourselves up in our house. My dad kept a gun close by just in case. Scariest moment of my entire life, and it’s gut wrenching knowing this could’ve all been avoided so easily and multiple lives could’ve been saved..

This is way too close to home for me. The fact of owning firearms legally in a constitutional carry state is not grounds to terrorize people and children (which I’m sure they knew he had also). The yellow card laws enacted by Janet Mills u dear the guise of protecting us from incidents like the Lewiston shooting are going to be used to terrorize citizens for any perceived offense. And just because it isn’t deadly doesn’t make it right.

No police department needs military vehicles. Period. They can’t even get addresses right, over and over and over again. Citizen safety needs to start coming way before officer safety. They took the job willingly. This family did absolutely nothing wrong and were harassed and put in deadly fear.
